For some children with neuromuscular disorders, the phrase “let’s take a walk” is about to take on a whole new meaning. Thanks to the innovative Upsee, invented by the mother of a child with cerebral palsy, many children with limited mobility can, with their parents' help, now stand upright, walk, and see the world from a brand new perspective.
The Upsee consists of a belt worn by the parent or caregiver, a harness worn by the child, and special sandals worn by both at the same time. The harness connects to the belt, so that as the parent walks, the child’s legs move, too. The harness covers the torso, offering upper body and core support while leaving your child’s arms, head and hands free.
Carolina Pediatric Therapy is excited to announce that we have purchased an Upsee to use at our clinic during therapy sessions. We are thrilled to incorporate this ingenious tool into the care of our young patients.
The Upsee opens the door to new ways to provide physical therapy, allowing your child’s muscles to stretch and move in ways that may not have been possible before. Perhaps most importantly, the Upsee allows your child to interact with the world in a different way. She can cruise right along with her siblings while you take a walk through the park. The Upsee gives your child a sense of independence and can boost her confidence.
If you’re ready to see how Carolina Pediatric Therapy and the innovative Upsee can help your child grow, explore, and enjoy life to the fullest, give us a call today at 828.670.8056.
